So my goals this summer was to make my body the least stressed it has been, aka being more conscious about what I eat, drink etc. Right after Memorial Day I gave up drinking, meat, and dairy. I had a few sugar spouts here (whole foods cookies are CRACK) and there that I could definitely feel my body stressed from, but ended my summer on a good note with none of that.
As you can see my body is reacting well to this lifestyle. I feel more alive than ever, but I still get some random aches and pains here and there. I haven't been able to put my finger on what they are.
I have had this voice in my head telling me I needed to do the one thing I didn't want to....the Candida diet/cleanse.
Read about what Candida is here but in short its an overgrowth of yeast in our bodies, that effects our immune systems. A HUGE indicator is that if you have used antibiotics (um Hi, yes my Drs prescribed them to me for YEARS. Yes years) then you are highly susceptible to it.
I have been putting it off because the 'diet' (which I would never stick to long term, only until my case is better) is VERY strict. No sugar, yeah not even fruit (gulp). Only certain veggies (no starchy ones allowed), you can have animal protein, but I will not being doing that for this cleanse. So basically lots of nuts, fats, and low glycemic veggies. And then there is no working out strenuously (piyo modified will be my go to). Its gonna be rough. But I'm going out of the country before the end of the year and I need to make sure I'm in tip top shape to handle any disease that tries to break into my system.
So next week I will be starting the Candida cleanse. I am using a e-book I got from www.thecandidadiet.com . Very useful and simple guide, recipes, and supplements. In addition to this, I am also doing a Dr. Clarks Kidney cleanse just to help flush out some stuff as well (teas, herbs and supplements).
Its gonna be hard but I've been putting this off too long! Time to bite the bullet. Its not forever, its only until I get this under control!
